Professionals & Stakeholders

We have a range of services delivered by our Therapeutic Teams through one-to-one, group and a peer led offer. This offer includes:

  • Counselling
  • Counselling for Depression
  • Couples Counselling for Depression
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - delivered by Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners and High Intensity Therapists
  • EMDR
  • Specific therapeuitc support for victims of crime

  • Living Well - for long term conditions

Our out of hours (appointment based) provision is offered on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings and Saturday across a number of our sites for both men and women.

We adhere to the practices set out in the BACP ethical framework and work to NICE guidelines.

Our therapeutic services are funded though a range of sources, including commissions under the national Improving Access to Psychological Therapies framework (IAPT) and which work to increase access to evidenced based talking therapies for the treatment of anxiety and depression.

Our Improving Access to Psychological Therapies framework (IAPT) Mental Health offer is for all genders extending elements of our therapeutic support - including one to one therapy, therapeutic training and support groups - to the wider community through outreach, out of hours and off site provision.

95% of clients stated that they felt involved in making choices about their treatment and care, with 84% agreeing that they got the help that mattered to them.

Lancashire Women's Centres provide a range of therapeutic services:

  • Counselling

You do not need a professional referral into this service and we welcome self-referrals.

(We have evening and weekend appointments available in some locations.)

Living Well - IAPT Long Term Conditions

The Living Well Programme offers CBT based therapies for all genders who have a long term physical health condition such as:

* Diabetes

* Fibromyalgia

* Chronic Pain

* Chronic Fatigue



* Arthritis

* Skin Conditions

* Cancer

* Heart Disease

* M.E.

* Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

* Other Respiratory Conditions

* Or any other long term physical health condition or medically unexplained condition.

The programme runs across Pennine Lancashire from a number of community venues and GP surgeries and consists of 1-1 and group support.

We understand that receiving a diagnosis and living with a long term condition or unexplained medical condition can be worrying. You may have worries about how this condition can impact on your emotional wellbeing, your family, your relationships and your day-to-day life. You may be experiencing some of the symptoms below:

* Anxiety
* Low Energy

Peer Support

We support a growing number of groups activity which can help to improve emotional wellbeing and to reduce social exclusion. These groups provide a range of activity to support well-being including therapeutic art, transsexual support, recovery from depression, social activities and 'drop in' activity.

MindFit - Training to Support Emotional Wellbeing

Our MindFit programme of therapeutic courses is a carefully designed progression package which leads individuals to improved wellbeing.

MindFit has been developed to provide a voyage of self discovery, with learners progressing carefully through a series of 5 week long courses.

Courses in the programme include:

The Planner - the first steps to feeling happier, welcome and at ease in a small group.

The Journey - supporting you to feeling stronger, more confident and assertive.

The Prize - adding the final touches and polishing new skills to achieve lasting positive changes.

In addition, we are able to offer further Mind Fit courses of varied lengths and which are designed to offer additional targeted support where needed, for example therapeutic art courses and mindfulness workshops.

BodyFit - Training to Support Physical Wellbeing

A pilot programme developed in partnership with Lancashire Sport. BodyFit provides an opportunity for women to get involved in a range of physical activities from walking to Toning!

Lancashire Women's Centres coordinate a network of voluntary sector organisations who together work under the umbrella of Think. We are currently commissioned by NHS East Lancashire CCG to deliver an integrated Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) counselling service across East Lancashire.

This partnership provides a range of therapeutic services for recovery, continued well-being and individual development and is provided in community settings throughout East Lancashire. Provision includes one to one therapy, counselling, Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, High Intensity Therapy and group offer of Mind-Fit programme of and Living Well.

All genders can self-refer into this service, or be referred by a health professional with their consent.
