East Lancs Masonic Charity Donation

Tue 22nd November 2016

Accrington Centre News

A grant of £2600 from the East Lancashire Masonic Charity has been received towards renovation works at our Accrington Centre.

Fundraising - Receiving cheque

This programme of works will enable us to increase usable space at the centre, allowing us to support more women.  Planned work will include the creation of a working community kitchen, and to which this grant will contribute towards the costs of.

Over 500 women a year access support and service at the Accrington Centre alone and we're keen to make better use of the space in the building to enable it to reach even more women. Work will include repairs to the roof, creation of new office space, expansion and improvements to the kitchen, and creating 5 new one to one rooms to provide a welcoming and safe space in which women can access support.

So far we have raised £56,500 towards this capital appeal we are now working hard to raise the final funds needed to start the work in the New Year.  We are still welcoming donations to the appeal, including donations from local companies of goods and materials to support the work.

We are so grateful to the East Lancashire Masonic Charity for awarding us this grant, which will make a huge difference our Accrington Centre and the support we can offer women.  For example, we have regular requests for cookery and health eating courses, as well as space for women to simply drop in and meet with others, the improvements we are now able to undertake as a result of this grant to our kitchen area will make these a possibility.”
